#116 | funding news, regulations, reducing CO2 from cows
📚 Worth Reading
We went to a structured finance summit, and one of the topics is SEC’s proposed naming rule. This was a big topic. Fund name must align to the the principle investment strategy and focus. The disclosure proposal also requires investors and their advisors to disclose information in such a way that investors can compare and contract the ESG focus across investment funds. Another disclosure is climate disclosure for all publicly traded companies in the U.S.
In the U.S., about a third of the assets managed are now linked to ESG. So SEC stance and upcoming regulations have huge impact on companies and their corporate governance.
In Europe, mature regulatory frameworks exist. Major EU Regulations in climate / sustainability investments are summarized below:
Low Carbon Benchmark Regulations
Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation
MiFID II Amendment
EU Green Bond Standard
In other news, McKinsey issued a report that discusses how PET plastic use in soft drinks packaging can reduce greenhouse gas emission compared to aluminum cans and glass bottles.
